The Academic Tutor & Mentor (Entry Level, Full-Time) is an onsite role based in Topeka, KS. Compensation is not specified in the posting. This position supports the City Year AmeriCorps program, which is dedicated to helping students across schools succeed through mentorship and academic support. This role exists to provide coaching and mentoring to elementary, middle, and high school students to improve their academic success, attendance, and behavior. The tutor works closely with partner teachers to monitor student progress and facilitate engaging learning activities in classrooms.

What you'll do

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills varying learning activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills throughout their day.
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to collect, record, analyze and monitor individual student progress.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support and/or conduct extended day and virtual programming for students.
• Create, support and/or co-lead events or programs that recognize and appreciate student growth.
