The Program Assistant — Career Awareness Program role is primarily in person in New York City, with occasional remote work. The schedule is in person Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. and select weekends, approximately 5–10 hours per week from September through May. Compensation is $17–$20 per hour. The Fresh Air Fund provides youth development, educational enrichment, and career exploration opportunities. The assistant supports day-to-day coordination and delivery of Career Awareness Program activities, helping create a safe, positive, and engaging experience for youth. The role combines session support, participant and volunteer communication, program logistics, and administrative work.

What you'll do

• Lead and support age-appropriate activities
• build positive relationships with youth and encourage participation
• support check-in, check-out, attendance, and participant experience
• communicate with youth, families, and volunteers
• chaperone youth on buses or public transportation
• assist with program preparation, logistics, data entry, and administrative tasks
• share observations with the Program Coordinator
• attend assigned after-school and weekend sessions, meetings, and trainings.
