Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant role is onsite in Brattleboro, VT. Compensation is $28.18–$44.91 per hour. The position is part of Brattleboro Retreat’s Finance team and reports to the Director of Finance and Accounting. The role exists to support day-to-day accounting, monthly close, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit preparation. It contributes to accurate and timely financial information for hospital finance leadership and supports the organization’s accounting operations.

What you'll do

• Post general journal entries
• complete internal and external reports and surveys
• balance fixed assets to the general ledger
• reconcile bank statements
• perform billing and collections
• support external audits with documentation
• provide secondary support for staff accounting and accounts payable
• report deficiencies, suspected fraud, and improvement suggestions
• maintain cash balances and projections
• complete government grant financial reporting.
