Substation Designer

The Substation Designer role is onsite or hybrid in Saint Louis, MO, with additional office options in Collinsville, IL, and Bettendorf, IA. The annual salary range is $70,000–$115,000. BHMG’s Substation Design department prepares safe, constructible design packages for utility clients. This role produces substation drawing sets and supporting documentation, applying design standards and integrating engineering, survey, civil, and structural inputs. Its work helps engineers and designers deliver coordinated packages that support project execution and construction.

What you'll do

• Develop one-lines, panel layouts, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, equipment arrangements, grounding layouts, conduit and trench plans, and foundation location plans
• perform design calculations and prepare documentation
• review vendor approval drawings
• prepare bills of materials, material specifications, and project submittals
• integrate survey, civil, and structural inputs
• update drawings based on construction feedback
• maintain project documentation and drawing lists.
