Veterinary Assistant

The Veterinary Assistant role is onsite in Joppa, MD. Compensation is $20 per hour. The position supports the veterinary team at Animal Care Center, an EverVet Partner, in providing care to patients and service to clients. The assistant helps doctors and technicians with patient handling, diagnostics, treatments, procedures, and hospital operations. The work supports patient comfort and care while helping maintain accurate records, stocked supplies, and prepared clinical areas.

What you'll do

• Restrain animals for examinations and treatments
• weigh patients
• use radiology software and maintain medical records
• take and file procedure photos
• run in-house laboratory specimens and prepare outside-lab submissions
• assist with treatments under DVM/LVT direction
• monitor anesthetized patients
• prepare surgical sites and packs
• care for hospitalized patients
• handle authorized medication and controlled-drug tasks
• monitor inventory and stock clinical rooms
• assist with ordering supplies
• maintain areas outside the hospital.
