The Optician / Certified Optician role is onsite in Chicago, Illinois. Compensation is $20–$24 per hour. The position supports Big City Optical’s work providing eye care in its communities. The optician helps patients select, fit, and receive eyewear that meets their vision needs and the optometrist’s recommendations. The role combines patient service, accurate fitting and order quality checks, inventory support, and related store and insurance administration.

What you'll do

• Conduct pre-examination assessments
• work with the optometrist on patient vision needs
• help patients select frames and lenses
• measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses
• explain lens options
• monitor orders and update patients
• assess order quality
• support inventory
• resolve customer issues
• maintain patient records and assist with store operations and insurance billing.
