The Firefighter position is onsite in Brenham, TX. Starting pay is $16.52 per hour, based on 2,912 annual hours. The City of Brenham fire department responds to emergencies and supports fire prevention in the community. The firefighter responds to fire, hazardous-materials, technical-rescue, and other emergency calls; operates and maintains suppression vehicles and equipment; and participates in training, prevention, and department support activities. The role contributes to emergency response and public safety through coordinated incident work and equipment readiness.

What you'll do

• Respond to fire, hazardous-materials, technical-rescue, and other emergency requests
• perform fire suppression, rescue, salvage, and overhaul duties
• operate and maintain fire vehicles, equipment, and communications systems
• assist with fire prevention, inspections, and public education
• participate in drills and courses
• test pumps, hoses, hydrants, and emergency equipment
• prepare reports and maintain files.

Why this role

Requires Texas Commission on Fire Protection basic firefighter certification and at least Emergency Medical Responder certification; obtain a valid Class B Texas driver’s license within six months of hire. Civil-emergency response may require residence within a 60-minute response range.
