Career Counselor, Reentry

Job overview

The Career Counselor, Reentry role is onsite in Minneapolis, MN, with occasional remote work privileges possible with supervisor approval on days without participant meetings. Pay is $23–$25 per hour. American Indian OIC supports adults and youth affected by the justice system as they pursue employment or education and self-sufficiency. The counselor provides individualized career guidance and case management, helping participants build employment plans, develop job-search skills, connect with employers and community resources, and follow up on job retention and advancement. The role supports participants’ progress through employment and education pathways.

What you'll do

• Manage a caseload of adult and youth participants involved in the justice system
• develop and execute Individual Employment Plans
• assist with resumes, job searches, and employment or internship connections
• maintain participant contact and conduct quarterly retention and advancement check-ins
• coordinate community resources
• teach work-readiness and interview skills
• build employer connections
• conduct outreach
• maintain records and privacy
• collaborate in team meetings.
