Senior Staff Packaging Engineer

The Senior Staff Packaging Engineer role is onsite in Leesburg, VA, with approximately 5–15% travel. Base salary is $128,000–$136,000 per year, with performance bonus potential. This technical leadership role guides medical device packaging from concept through commercialization, helping ensure packaging protects products through manufacturing, sterilization, transportation, storage, and clinical use. It also advances compliant, manufacturable, and cost-effective packaging through cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

• Lead design, development, and implementation of sterile and non-sterile medical device packaging systems through production release
• develop packaging standards and procedures
• create CAD designs and engineering documentation
• specify primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging
• plan and analyze validation and performance testing
• collaborate with product development, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, supply chain, suppliers, and contract manufacturers
• design transportation cases and trays
• lead DFMEA, PFMEA, and other risk documentation
• identify continuous improvement and value engineering opportunities.
