ERT/Railcar Repair Technician

Job overview

The ERT/Railcar Repair Technician role is full-time and based in Baytown, TX, with travel to assigned project sites. Pay is $21.58–$34 per hour. The technician supports freight railcar maintenance and repair at customer and railroad locations. The role inspects railcars, identifies defects, completes approved repairs, and documents work in accordance with Federal Railroad Administration, Association of American Railroads, customer, and company standards. Travel assignments may last up to seven consecutive days, and the position requires availability for short-notice deployment.

What you'll do

• Inspect freight railcars for defects, wear, damage, and non-compliance
• perform running repairs such as brake shoe replacement, brake rigging adjustments, safety appliance repairs, and gasket replacement
• evaluate railcars under FRA and AAR regulations
• complete inspection and repair records
• operate repair tools and equipment safely
• coordinate with railroad personnel, customers, dispatchers, yardmasters, and supervisors
• maintain tools and work areas
• follow safety policies, railroad rules, PPE requirements, and Lockout/Tagout procedures
• participate in required training and maintain certifications.
