The role supports Zoox’s 3D Sensor Simulation team, whose work develops in-the-loop simulation and synthetic data for autonomous vehicle AI training and testing. This work helps the autonomy stack learn and reduces gaps between simulation and real-world sensor data.

What you'll do

• Design, train, and validate machine learning models to improve simulated lidar, radar, and camera data.
• Collaborate with Synthetic Data and HIL Sim teams to integrate 3D Gaussian Splatting and NeRF-based reconstruction.
• Build and curate training datasets from real and simulated sensor data, including generative-AI augmentation.
• Work with simulation verification and validation and perception engineers on sensor realism metrics and sim-to-real gaps.
• Mentor engineers and interns and establish training and deployment practices for sensor data.
