The CNC Machinist, Milling, 2nd Shift role is onsite in Newton, NJ, with stated pay of $27–$36 per hour and a $5,000 sign-on bonus. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 3:45 p.m.–12:15 a.m. Thorlabs designs and manufactures photonics components, instruments, and systems for research and real-world applications. The machinist sets up and operates CNC milling machines to produce precision components that meet drawing specifications. The role inspects finished work, maintains equipment, and supports quality and on-time delivery in a manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

• Set up and operate vertical and horizontal CNC milling machines, including 3- and 4-axis equipment
• use Haas and Fanuc controls
• apply Virtual Gibbs and manual G-code/M-code programming
• machine precision tools and fixtures to specified tolerances
• read blueprints and geometric tolerances
• inspect and troubleshoot finished work
• complete production tasks on time
• perform periodic machine maintenance and repairs
• follow safety rules and maintain clean work areas.
