The Staff Engineer, Maintenance and Reliability is an onsite contract role based in Huntsville, AL. This role supports the manufacturing engineering department in driving reliability and efficiency. This role exists to originate and develop analysis methods to determine the reliability of components, equipment, and processes. The engineer prepares diagrams, reports, and action plans to define reliability problems, optimize maintenance programs, and reduce downtime, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

What you'll do

• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) using 5-Why, Fishbone, and FMEA methods.
• Develop and optimize preventive/predictive maintenance programs (PM/PdM).
• Analyze OEE, MTTR, MTBF trends and drive measurable improvements.
• Support capital projects, equipment installation, and commissioning.
• Own CMMS (SAP PM) data quality, job plans, and asset history.
• Standardize maintenance procedures and spare parts strategies.
• Support workforce planning including skill gap identification and training plans.
• Coordinate contractors and vendors ensuring safety and performance compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement culture.
• Ensure compliance with LOTO, safety, and environmental standards.
