Program Assistant II, Stage 1

Job overview

The Program Assistant II, Stage 1 role is 100% onsite in Long Beach, CA, with pay of $20–$22 per hour. Crystal Stairs works to improve families’ lives through child care services, research, and advocacy. The assistant supports the Stage 1 Department by checking CalWORKs parent eligibility, assisting walk-in clients, maintaining accurate parent and provider records, and coordinating enrollment and recertification processes.

What you'll do

• Create and maintain parent and provider files
• review documentation
• prepare forms, notices, and correspondence about missing documents
• enter client information into an internal database
• call providers about terminated parents
• schedule enrollment and recertification appointments and follow up on rescheduled appointments and no-shows
• send documentation requests
• maintain and verify the agency waiting list
• check qualifying need, family residence, and child-care needs within the service area
• sort and distribute mail
• and perform other assigned duties.
