Lead AI Security Engineer — Agentic SOC

The Lead AI Security Engineer — Agentic SOC role is onsite five days per week in McLean, VA. The base salary range is $150,000–$275,000 per year. The role supports Appian’s AI Security Operations Center team, which is developing AI-driven cyber defense systems. The engineer builds and secures production AI agents and workflows that support security analysts with incident response. The work combines generative AI, software engineering, and security to enable responsible automation, contextual triage, and safe escalation of complex cases to human analysts.

What you'll do

• Design, test, and deploy AI agents integrated with enterprise security tools
• translate SOC playbooks into agentic pipelines
• build and maintain retrieval-augmented generation workflows
• evaluate and optimize LLM performance
• develop human-in-the-loop handoffs
• mitigate AI security risks including prompt injection, data poisoning, and tool abuse.
