The Water Distribution Operator I–IV role is onsite in Ashland, KY, with compensation of $18.50–$26.31 per hour. The position supports the City of Ashland’s water distribution system. The operator assists with construction, maintenance, and cleaning of water distribution infrastructure, meter reading, service orders, and repairs. This work helps maintain system function and respond to customer service needs; emergency response availability is required.

What you'll do

• Assist with construction, maintenance, and cleaning of water distribution systems
• lay and map lines and wash sewer lines
• detect equipment malfunctions and make minor repairs or recommend major repairs
• assist with delivery of chemicals, pipes, and fittings
• read and record water meters
• check for leaks and help locate water leaks
• connect or disconnect water as instructed
• receive customer requests and complaints and address or forward them
• assist other divisions with construction and maintenance.

Why this role

Requires a valid driver’s license and a commercial driver’s license before completion of original probation. Must obtain a Kentucky Class I Water Distribution License within one year after meeting experience requirements; may be required to obtain Class II. Must respond to emergency calls at any time.
