Design Manager, Data Center Fire Sprinklers

The Design Manager role is onsite in Austin, TX. Compensation is not specified. Allied Fire Protection designs fire sprinkler systems, and this position leads design for large-scale data center sprinkler projects. The manager oversees design delivery from project planning through drawing approval, coordinating designers and project partners to meet requirements, codes, quality standards, and deadlines. The role also develops the design team and supports customer and construction operations coordination.

What you'll do

• Coordinate with sales and construction operations to review scope, schedules, and design requirements
• assign projects to designers
• ensure plans and CAD files are available
• schedule pre-design meetings
• manage design quality
• report status to team members, customers, and management
• lead, train, mentor, and coach designers
• participate in project and department meetings
• attend inspections as a licensed representative as needed
• perform site surveys and field checks
• review drawings and resubmittals
• track rejection comments and commitment dates
• manage workload and subcontract design support
• review timesheets
• communicate project changes and scope increases
• assist with design as required.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or GED and NICET Level III in Water-Based Systems or RME-G; 10+ years of fire sprinkler systems design experience. Data center design experience is highly preferred. Travel includes frequent visits to five Texas office locations for team training.
