Fiber Optic Splicer — Overnight Work and Travel

Job overview

The Fiber Optic Splicer role is onsite, based in State College, PA, with frequent overnight travel across a five- to six-state area in the Northeast. Compensation is $1–$50 per hour. Cable Services Company performs construction and cable installation projects. The role installs, troubleshoots, maintains, routes, splices, and terminates fiber-optic systems at varied sites. What you'll do

• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber-optic systems
• prepare and hang enclosures, nodes, and related equipment
• route, splice, and terminate fiber
• perform fusion splicing as directed
• read design maps and fiber schematics
• operate aerial lifts and related equipment
• participate in emergency-restoration on-call coverage
• communicate workload status
• complete assignment documentation
• maintain assigned vehicle, tools, materials, and equipment
• follow safety policies. Routine construction tasks may also be performed occasionally.
