Medical Director — Hospice

Job overview

The Medical Director — Hospice role is onsite at the Marshall, IL office and pays $150–$160 per hour. The physician provides medical leadership for the Transitions Hospice program, which focuses on dignity, comfort, and compassionate end-of-life care. The role exists to guide clinical practice across hospice services, support the interdisciplinary team, and help ensure patients receive appropriate symptom management and physician care. It also advances quality, compliance, education, and community understanding of hospice and palliative care.

What you'll do

• Provide medical direction and supervise hospice providers
• consult with attending physicians on pain and symptom management
• serve as a medical resource to the hospice interdisciplinary group
• ensure physician services are available 24 hours a day for general medical needs
• review and develop treatment protocols
• maintain knowledge of hospice and palliative care research
• establish and review care policies and procedures
• support Medicare and CHAP compliance
• participate in QAPI activities
• educate physicians and community partners
• represent the hospice program
• counsel patients and families
• participate in resolving clinical, ethical, and interpersonal concerns.
