Field Service Technician IV

Job overview

The Field Service Technician IV works onsite at off-site customer locations in San Antonio, TX. Compensation is $24.04–$46.16 per hour. The role provides field service for light and heavy construction equipment customers. The technician troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, and reconditions equipment to support customer operations and equipment performance. The role also contributes through service documentation, customer communication, safe work practices, and mentoring lower-level technicians.

What you'll do

• Perform intermediate offsite repairs and troubleshooting with minimal supervision
• diagnose equipment malfunctions and analyze failures
• remove and install parts and assemble components to CAT specifications
• test repairs and verify operation
• complete service reports, order parts, maintain customer records, and access required databases
• act as team leader and mentor or coach
• participate in work-order quotations
• operate equipment and vehicles with required licenses and certificates
• maintain vehicle inspection records and driver logs
• follow contamination-control and HAZMAT rules
• maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle
• communicate job progress
• meet flat-rate and rework standards
• complete assigned training and safety courses. Travel is required and may include overnight stays
• overtime may be required based on workload and customer needs.

Why this role

More than four years of heavy equipment experience required; six or more years preferred. Valid driver’s license required; must be able to obtain a CDL. Must own required repair tools.
