What you'll do

• Welcome customers, maintain product knowledge, and assist with merchandise selection
• respond to customer concerns
• support sales-department operations
• may order merchandise, receive and price goods, and monitor stock
• may assist with price changes, markdowns, promotions, and signage
• may coordinate special orders and merchandise issues with headquarters
• may train employees on register and front-end duties and provide evaluation input
• operate a cash register and handle payments
• prepare and verify change funds
• collect and reconcile receipts and register tapes
• maintain cash overage and shortage records
• control change funds, safe, and registers
• open and close the store as required
• may supervise employees and oversee the store in management’s absence
• follow loss-prevention and safety procedures.
