Community Engagement Specialist

The Community Engagement Specialist role is based in Baltimore, MD, with approximately 90% fieldwork in community settings; compensation is not specified. The specialist conducts outreach and follow-up to connect people with substance use and mental health needs to services, strengthen referral relationships, and support continuity of care. The role also facilitates a weekly group and maintains timely records of outreach and client engagement.

What you'll do

• Conduct street outreach to identify eligible participants
• follow up with clients who have disengaged from care
• collaborate with community partners to access Narcan, food donations, and other resources
• screen participants, assess eligibility, and schedule intakes
• maintain relationships with social service agencies, shelters, faith-based organizations, and other stakeholders
• represent the organization at events
• document outreach and client engagements
• facilitate at least one group session weekly
• and participate in multidisciplinary meetings and professional development as needed.

Requires knowledge of Baltimore community resources and recovery services, a valid driver’s license, an insured and registered vehicle, and reliable transportation. Schedule availability is Monday to Friday and weekends as needed.
