Natural Resource Specialist – Tools

The Natural Resource Specialist – Tools role is onsite in Washington, DC, with pay of $65 per hour and a 40-hour workweek. Through the ACES Program, National Experienced Workforce Solutions connects experienced workers with NRCS to support conservation work for farmers and landowners. The specialist supports modernization of NRCS business tools and processes by gathering requirements, analyzing alternatives, assisting with testing, and developing training resources. This work helps field offices deliver conservation programs and technical assistance to producers.

What you'll do

• Gather business needs and requirements with NRCS technical and program subject matter experts
• organize priorities and analyze alternatives
• support field concept, user acceptance, and other testing
• develop test scripts, identify test data, capture results, and communicate actions
• develop training materials and resources
• provide recommendations on staging, consolidating, and making conservation tools available.

Why this role

The opportunity is for experienced workers age 55 or older and is a temporary, at-will ACES enrollee position, not federal employment. Travel includes in-person sessions, field testing, and training, with overnight and air travel anticipated up to 2–3 times per quarter.
