Job overview

The 2027 Visiting Fellowship – South Asia Program includes a summer residency onsite in Washington, DC, with the remainder of the one-year fellowship based in fellows’ home countries. The fellowship is unpaid; Stimson provides a living stipend and lodging during the Washington residency, as well as visa and travel costs to and from the United States. The fellowship supports the Stimson Center’s South Asia Program and its research on regional strategic and security issues. Fellows develop research, writing, and public presentation skills while producing analysis on South Asian security issues. The program contributes research and commentary to Stimson’s publications and engages fellows with the Washington policy and research community.

What you'll do

  • Develop a research project and a co-authored or single-authored research memo
  • publish three op-ed-style essays on South Asian Voices over twelve months
  • present at the Stimson Visiting Fellows research salon
  • contribute occasionally to Stimson products and its intellectual community through activities such as peer review or podcast interviews.
