Security Software Engineer – Red Team Penetration Tester

The Security Software Engineer – Red Team Penetration Tester role is onsite in Dahlgren, VA, with a stated salary range of $110,000–$150,000 per year. RPI Group supports a mission-focused Navy customer through red-team penetration testing intended to inform defensive security decisions. The engineer identifies and analyzes security weaknesses through penetration testing, red-team operations, and software security work. Findings and technical recommendations help the customer understand vulnerabilities and improve system defenses, including through software modifications and security controls.

What you'll do

• Support red-team penetration testing for a Navy customer
• use penetration-testing tools including Kali, Metasploit, NMAP, and Cobalt Strike
• debug and reverse engineer software
• analyze Windows events and Linux logs
• identify security flaws in compiled and readable source code
• recommend software modifications to mitigate vulnerabilities
• operate and administer computer systems across listed operating systems
• apply NSA-approved encryption technologies and DISA STIGs
• work with relevant systems, applications, and network technologies described in the posting.
