Resident Assistant — Comfort Center

The Resident Assistant role is onsite in Binghamton, NY, with pay of $20 per hour. The YWCA Comfort Center supports people experiencing housing instability, with a mission that includes eliminating racism and empowering women through dignity, respect, and trauma-informed care. The Resident Assistant helps maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive shelter environment while meeting guests’ day-to-day needs. The role contributes to program operations through guest supervision, crisis support, accurate documentation, safety checks, and coordination with colleagues.

What you'll do

• Supervise guests and explain program policies
• orient guests and provide basic-needs supplies
• provide conflict resolution and crisis intervention as needed
• plan and monitor group meetings and activities
• maintain logs and census records
• complete shift tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and intake sheets
• answer calls and provide referrals
• conduct facility safety checks
• monitor fire, security, and alarm systems
• attend required meetings and training.
