The Professional Land Surveyor / Survey Manager role is in person in Billings, MT, with a mix of office and field work. Compensation is $110,000–$130,000 per year. Sanbell is a multidisciplinary engineering, community planning, and design firm serving clients across the Western United States. The Montana-licensed survey manager provides technical oversight as Surveyor of Record while leading field crews and managing surveying projects. The role supports accurate, compliant survey deliverables, effective field operations, client relationships, and growth of the Survey Department’s work.

What you'll do

• Serve as Surveyor of Record for boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, subdivision, easement, and construction surveys
• review, sign, and seal survey documents
• interpret deeds, plats, title commitments, and legal descriptions
• ensure compliance with Montana requirements
• oversee data analysis and quality assurance
• lead and mentor field staff
• plan field operations and assignments
• manage schedules and workloads
• coordinate with clients and project partners
• support project budgets, workflow improvements, technology adoption, and business development.
