Systems Engineer — Spacecraft and Mission Systems

The Systems Engineer works onsite in El Segundo, CA; compensation is $135,000–$175,000 per year. Space Kinetic is a space-technology startup developing a new architecture for space operations intended to support multiple deployable payloads from host spacecraft. The engineer guides spacecraft and mission systems from concept development through integration, launch, and operations. The role manages requirements, interfaces, verification, and technical coordination across complex government space programs, helping teams develop and validate integrated mission systems.

What you'll do

• Develop and manage system requirements, architectures, interfaces, and technical baselines
• translate mission objectives into verifiable system and subsystem requirements
• maintain requirements traceability and verification evidence
• develop and maintain MBSE models using Cameo and SysML
• coordinate technical work across spacecraft, payload, software, ground, and mission operations teams
• develop integration, verification, and validation plans and acceptance criteria
• support spacecraft testing, mission simulations, anomaly resolution, launch, and on-orbit operations
• lead technical trades, risk assessments, design reviews, and customer presentations.
