The Senior Project Manager – Federal Research Communications role is onsite at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center in McLean, VA, and/or FHWA Headquarters in Washington, DC; compensation is not specified. The role supports a Federal Highway Administration research communications and publishing program producing research documents and external-facing communications. The project manager leads the contract team and owns program schedules, staffing, quality, delivery, and the client relationship. The role translates client priorities into contractor assignments and ensures the portfolio’s deliverables meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements; the opportunity is contingent upon contract award.

What you'll do

• Manage a portfolio of concurrent research communications and publishing projects
• plan resources and balance workloads
• supervise contractor staff and assign work
• serve as primary contact for contracting officials, task managers, and researchers
• translate technical direction into work assignments
• manage schedules, budgets, risks, and performance metrics
• prepare progress reports and meeting records
• maintain project tracking
• develop and maintain a quality control plan
• manage staffing continuity, recruitment, retention, succession, and transition activities.
