The Mission Network Engineer is a 100% onsite, full-time position at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, CA. Compensation is $95,000–$105,000 per year. The role supports the center’s mission network and its network-connected appliances, with occasional after-hours or on-call support during mission activities and limited travel. The engineer maintains reliable, secure network services for mission operations by monitoring, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure and connected devices. The role also keeps technical records and cybersecurity controls current while coordinating with center and agency IT teams.

What you'll do

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure, including VLANs, subnets, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, and hardware VPN tunnels
• install and configure switches, routers, and firewalls
• administer network-connected appliances
• meet cybersecurity requirements, including certificate management and data-in-transit encryption
• maintain network diagrams, IP records, configurations, inventories, and certificate tracking in the CMDB
• coordinate with IT teams and provide weekly status updates.

Why this role

Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of network engineering experience, or associate’s degree and 8+ years, are required. CCNA- or CompTIA Network+-level skills are needed; active certification is strongly preferred. U.S. citizenship is required. Occasional on-call support and limited travel are specified.
