The Naval Architect – Hull, Hydrodynamics, Weights, Stability role is onsite two days per week in Washington, DC, with travel to Mobile, AL as needed to support the government customer. The anticipated salary is $110,000–$150,000 per year. Sayres provides defense support services to the Department of Defense; this role supports the PMS 300/325 Ship Design Management team. The role provides naval architecture expertise across ship design and engineering work, from studies and design reviews through construction and in-service support. It helps the Navy customer assess ship designs, resolve technical issues, and ensure deliverables meet government specifications and requirements.

What you'll do

• Provide engineering and technical support for concept and feasibility studies, preliminary, contract, and detail design, construction, independent design reviews, in-service engineering, shipboard installation, and special studies
• review shipyard specifications, drawings, and calculations
• develop corrective design comments and revisions
• resolve engineering problems in Navy ship production
• conduct Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical technical assessments
• advise on equipment and system design
• supervise and train junior Ship Design Management engineers.
