Youth Engagement Support Staff (YESS) — Per Diem On-Call

The Youth Engagement Support Staff (YESS) role is onsite in Newark, New Jersey. Compensation is $18.71 per hour. The position supports Covenant House of NJ’s work with young people through a strength-based, trauma-informed, and harm-reduction-focused approach. YESS staff build supportive relationships, engage youth in activities, support their self-identified success plan goals, and respond to crises. The role also contributes to safe, inclusive residential programming through documentation, group activities, and day-to-day program support.

What you'll do

• Welcome youth and explain program structure and resources
• build supportive relationships and support success-plan goals
• engage youth in house and outside activities
• provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as trained
• document progress, incidents, and medication logs
• facilitate assigned groups
• assist with residential space, supplies, and common areas
• transport youth in agency vehicles when assigned.

Why this role

Multiple per-diem on-call openings; candidates must be available for shifts of 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m.–10:30 p.m., or 10 p.m.–8 a.m. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and Spanish are preferred, not required.
