The Head Start Teacher Assistant role is an onsite, full-time position at Ogallala Head Start in Ogallala, NE. Pay is $16.33–$17.83 per hour, based on certifications and experience. The role supports the Head Start classroom and its young learners. The assistant helps teachers provide a safe, active learning environment and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum. Classroom support, child assessments, family engagement, and assistance with individual education goals contribute to children’s learning and development.

What you'll do

• Assist with curriculum implementation, classroom management, and lesson planning
• document child outcomes and support assessments and screenings
• participate in home visits and parent-staff conferences
• assist with oral health practices and Individual Education Plan goals
• model appropriate behavior
• help complete Child Development Plans
• attend Head Start events as needed
• cover other center positions during staff absences.

Why this role

Scheduled hours are generally 7:15 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week for 38 weeks, with summer months off. Candidates without a CDA must be willing to enroll in a credential program within two years; Head Start will pay for and assist with completion for the right candidate.
