Materials Specialist — Warehouse Inventory and Shipping

The Materials Specialist role is onsite in Minneapolis, MN, with training Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for two months, then a 2 p.m.–10 p.m. shift Monday–Friday, with some weekend overtime if needed. Pay is $20–$25 per hour on W-2, including benefits. The role supports materials and inventory operations for a 24/7 shop serving locomotive work. This position manages inventory accuracy and material flow so shop teams have the parts needed for locomotive maintenance. It also supports shipment quality, inventory reporting, and safe, organized warehouse operations.

What you'll do

• Manage inventory and control metrics
• issue warehouse materials to the correct locomotive with required records
• monitor stockouts and cycle counts
• forecast material needs
• inspect inbound and outbound shipments
• arrange LTL and expedited shipments and required documentation
• use software to order, receive, ship, and track materials, including hazardous materials
• read mechanical drawings
• operate and inspect forklifts
• compile inventory reports
• process material sales, repair-cycle assets, warranty claims, and transactions
• restock and maintain warehouse organization
• respond to shop material requests
• support physical inventory counts.
