What you'll do

• Read and interpret complex blueprints and structural drawings
• lay out, fit, and assemble steel and aluminum components
• measure, cut, align, and tack materials to specifications
• use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment
• follow shipyard safety procedures
• pass the mandatory advanced blueprint-reading assessment. Welding tests may include FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW-Pulse, but passing all welding tests is not mandatory.
