Industrial Designer II, Building Products

Job overview

The Industrial Designer II role is onsite in Bessemer, AL, splitting time between the design office and manufacturing floor; compensation is not specified. At BLOX, the role supports a new product launch team designing modular building products for healthcare, mission-critical, and other facilities. The designer connects user-centered product design with manufacturability, cost, and quality, carrying design intent through production. The work helps ensure products function for patients, staff, and technicians and can be efficiently built, transported, and installed.

What you'll do

• Lead concept development and refine product designs for usability, ergonomics, configuration, materials, and cost
• research how patients, staff, and maintenance technicians use products
• create sketches, 3D models, renderings, and prototypes
• define color, material, and finish choices
• produce production-ready models and drawings and partner with engineering on fabrication files, specifications, and bills of material
• apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles
• maintain traceable design revisions
• work with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program management to resolve build issues
• track rework, scrap, and delays and lead continuous-improvement actions
• support prototyping, first-article builds, and launch readiness.
