Job overview

The Electronics Technician Intern role is onsite in Chicago, IL. Compensation is $22–$30 per hour. OceanComm develops undersea wireless communication technology, including modems used with undersea drones and sensors. The intern supports production and testing of electronics and electromechanical products while developing technical skills under the guidance of experienced engineers and technicians. The work contributes to products used in defense, offshore energy, and oceanographic research.

What you'll do

  • Assemble, solder, rework, inspect, and test circuit board assemblies and electromechanical hardware
  • build and test modems using documented procedures
  • troubleshoot failed assemblies under guidance
  • machine mounts and housings using CAD/CAM software and a CNC mill
  • help test systems at sea
  • assist with manufacturing automation, continuous improvement, and safe workspace practices.
