The Patient Financial Counselor — Patient Access Services role is onsite in Indianapolis, IN. Compensation is $21.79 per hour. The role supports patient access at Damien Center, an AIDS service organization providing care, prevention, education, and advocacy for people living with or at risk for HIV. The position exists to complete patient registration and financial advocacy so patients can access timely care. It helps uninsured and underinsured patients navigate coverage and assistance programs, understand insurance and billing, and resolve account questions.

What you'll do

• Complete registration and validate demographic and insurance information
• verify medical benefits and update coordination of benefits
• assist patients with applications for Medicare, Medicaid, Marketplace, RWHAP, sliding fee, and other programs
• follow up on pending eligibility
• explain affordability programs and insurance rights
• calculate Good Faith Estimates
• maintain work queues and reports
• conduct financial counseling appointments
• answer calls and billing inquiries
• document patient interactions and transactions.
