The Neurosurgeon role is an onsite, long-term contract position in Cedar Hill, MO, providing care to Veterans at a major medical center. The estimated rate is $384 per hour. The role is supported by a full VA medical team and includes weekday clinical and operating-room coverage from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weekend inpatient rounding as needed, and required 24/7 call coverage. The neurosurgeon provides outpatient, inpatient, surgical, and perioperative care, including consultations, procedures, postoperative rounding, and discharge planning. Participation in quality improvement and morbidity and mortality conferences supports high-quality care and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

• Provide outpatient consultations and follow-up
• perform spinal and cranial neurosurgical procedures
• manage intraoperative care and postoperative rounding in SICU and inpatient units
• complete inpatient consultations and bedside evaluations
• educate patients and families
• document care in the VA electronic medical record
• participate in conferences and quality improvement
• provide 24/7 call coverage with 15-minute telephone and 60-minute onsite response when required.
