Cybersecurity Engineer

The Cybersecurity Engineer role is onsite in Salinas, CA. Compensation is $18–$25 per hour. The position works directly with the Chief Security Officer at Alvarez Technology Group and combines Tier 1 desktop support with cybersecurity monitoring and response. The engineer helps protect client and internal systems by monitoring threats, investigating incidents, conducting security reviews, and supporting remediation. The role also contributes to customer service and security education through clear communication and technical support.

What you'll do

• Maintain and create security procedures and provide staff security education
• participate in incident response, threat intelligence, and forensic functions
• research threats, vulnerabilities, and countermeasures
• conduct security control reviews and audits
• support compliance, risk, and controls initiatives
• perform SOC monitoring, reporting, and response
• manage multiple clients and projects
• conduct security assessments, penetration testing, vulnerability analysis, and firewall reviews
• explain vulnerabilities and remediation to stakeholders
• train staff
• log activity and enforce IT policies.

Why this role
