Fleet Dispatcher — Operations

The Fleet Dispatcher role is onsite in Sterling, VA, working Thursday through Saturday on either a 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m. shift. Compensation is $40,000–$50,000 per year. The dispatcher supports Valor Fleet's Operations department and serves as a key link among drivers, customers, brokers, and operations staff. The role keeps trucks loaded, routed, on schedule, and compliant by assigning loads, tracking drivers, and resolving disruptions in real time. Accurate records and clear shift handoffs support service, safety, and billing operations.

What you'll do

• Assign loads based on driver location, equipment, hours of service, and delivery windows
• build efficient routes
• book pickup and delivery appointments
• communicate with drivers and track trucks using ELD/GPS
• reroute around delays, weather, closures, and breakdowns
• coordinate roadside assistance and repairs
• provide customers and brokers with ETAs and delay notices
• plan within FMCSA hours-of-service limits
• flag compliance and safety gaps
• report incidents
• maintain TMS records and collect BOLs and PODs
• hand off open issues at shift change.
