The Veterinary Technician Student Externship is an onsite, unpaid opportunity in Franklin, TN. Veterinary Emergency Group’s hospitals provide emergency care for pets and support people when they need it most. The program gives enrolled veterinary technology or nursing students hands-on exposure to emergency medicine under the mentorship of credentialed veterinary technicians. Externs observe and assist across triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, and inpatient care while practicing skills required by their school.

• Learn from emergency veterinary professionals
• receive real-time mentoring
• shadow and assist with triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, and inpatient care
• practice skills on the school proficiency checklist.
