The Field Service Engineer, Medium Voltage — Western Region role is field-based, with a home office in the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area and regional travel across the Western region. Compensation is $33.00–$43.00 per hour, depending on level, experience, and qualifications. The role supports SMA America’s medium-voltage systems and its work advancing solar inverter technology and clean power. The engineer tests, inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs medium-voltage systems at customer sites, supporting warranty repairs and technical escalations. The role contributes to reliable customer operations through field documentation, safety practices, and coordination with engineering, service, quality, and suppliers; responsibilities vary by assigned level. Travel is approximately 80%, with a typical rotation of about two weeks on site at a time.

What you'll do

• At all levels, participate in site safety briefings
• test, inspect, maintain, and repair medium-voltage systems
• conduct dissolved gas analysis sampling and apply report results
• complete test reports and field service documentation
• maintain spare-parts inventory, tools, and assigned vehicle
• and support customer satisfaction. At Level II and above, independently troubleshoot electrical and control systems, perform specified transformer repairs, serve as a customer point of contact, and collaborate on root-cause analysis. At Level III, lead crews, review reports, work with engineering counterparts, and train and mentor technicians.
