Commercial Construction Project Engineer

Job overview

The Commercial Construction Project Engineer works onsite in Cherokee, AL, with regular travel to active construction jobsites. Annual salary is $90,000–$135,000. Perlo Construction is seeking support for commercial projects from initial planning through final closeout. The engineer coordinates technical documentation, cost tracking, field collaboration, and subcontractor activity to help projects meet schedules and contractual requirements. The role supports project delivery through coordination with project managers, superintendents, architects, vendors, clients, and field crews.

What you'll do

• Support technical execution and coordination of commercial construction projects
• review drawings and specifications for constructability concerns and discrepancies
• manage submittals, requests for information, change proposals, change orders, and subcontracts
• coordinate with project stakeholders
• assist with budgets, cost tracking, projections, billing, and invoice review
• support schedules, procurement, and negotiations
• organize project records and meeting minutes
• participate in onsite meetings
• identify technical, operational, safety, and field concerns
• lead quality control, punch-list completion, and closeout
• mentor junior project engineers.
