The Academic Tutor & Mentor (City Year AmeriCorps Member) is an onsite, full-time position located in Silver Spring, MD. The role exists to help students achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. The Academic Tutor & Mentor works directly with students in one-on-one and small group settings, collaborating with teachers to monitor progress and implement learning activities.

What you'll do

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math skills
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Develop interpersonal skills
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress
• Support whole school initiatives
• Conduct extended day and virtual programming
• Lead events recognizing student growth.
