School Social Worker — High School Special Education

Job overview

The School Social Worker role is onsite in Plymouth, MI, across two high schools on the same campus. Traveler pay is $1,000–$1,900 per week based on experience; local pay is not provided. The contract is six months, with a day schedule of 7:20 AM–2:25 PM, five days per week and 37.5 hours per week. The role supports approximately 30–40 students, including students with cognitive impairments, autism spectrum disorder, and special education needs. The social worker provides individual and group services that address students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and educational needs. Through assessment, individualized support, crisis intervention, and collaboration with school staff and families, the role contributes to student well-being and success.

What you'll do

• Provide individual and group social work services
• support students with cognitive impairments, autism spectrum disorder, and resource program needs
• assess social, emotional, behavioral, and environmental needs
• develop and implement individualized support plans
• assist with emotional regulation, social skills, conflict resolution, and behavioral concerns
• collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• participate in IEP meetings as appropriate
• provide crisis intervention
• connect students and families with resources
• maintain confidential records and monitor progress.
