The SME Mechanical Engineer, Structures & Mechanisms role is onsite at the Space Station Development Facility in Webster, Texas. Compensation is not specified. The position supports structural and mechanical hardware for Axiom Space’s first commercial space station. The subject matter expert leads and reviews engineering work across design, analysis, documentation, and hardware production. The role also mentors junior engineers and helps translate customer requests into requirements and design criteria for station components.

What you'll do

• Own design, development, test, and evaluation of structural and mechanical components
• onboard customer requests and develop requirements
• perform preliminary analysis using free-body diagrams, hand calculations, and FEA
• deliver peer-reviewable models, documentation, and drawings
• oversee manufacturing and assembly
• review engineers’ work and mentor junior engineers
• present findings.
