Job overview
The Mental Health Counselor role is onsite in Lamar, CO, for 20–28 hours per week over 10 months, August through May. Compensation is $30–$33 per hour. The counselor supports Lamar Community College’s Student Affairs division and Mental Health Counseling department, providing services for enrolled students. The role exists to deliver and coordinate counseling and wellness support that helps students build resilience and succeed academically, personally, and professionally. Work includes individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, outreach, consultation, training, referrals, and collaboration with campus offices and the Rural College Consortium Mental Health Development Project Team.
What you'll do
- Provide culturally responsive and identity-informed counseling, solution-focused brief therapy, group counseling, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and referrals
- develop student wellness programs and outreach
- consult with and provide professional development for faculty and staff
- collaborate across campus
- support crisis prevention and intervention
- maintain confidential records and comply with ethical, legal, and privacy requirements
- guide up to two psychoeducation interns.
