The Theater Camp Counselor, Camp Kaleidoscope (Summer Day Camp) role is onsite in Newton, MA, with pay of $15–$17 per hour. JCC Greater Boston’s summer camp serves children in grades 4–8 and supports two fully staged musical theater productions. The counselor helps campers participate safely and inclusively in rehearsals, auditions, choreography, set design, swimming, arts and crafts, and other camp activities. By supporting campers’ social and emotional development and working with co-counselors and camp leadership, the role helps create a positive and memorable summer experience.

What you'll do

• Ensure camper safety and well-being
• foster a fun, joyful, inclusive group dynamic
• partner with co-counselors and camp leadership
• lead, co-lead, and support activities including arts, sports, and swimming
• participate in swim times
• assist with activity setup and cleanup
• support campers’ social and emotional development
• attend assigned meetings and training.

Why this role

Eight-week summer program from June 21 to August 20, including staff training. Daily schedule is 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday; candidates who cannot work the full summer may discuss their availability. Requires 10th grade or equivalent and eligibility for a work permit, plus one season of experience working with children.
