CNC Programmer III

Job overview

The CNC Programmer III role is onsite in Arvada, CO. Compensation is $45–$55 per hour. Barber-Nichols develops custom turbomachinery for the defense, aerospace, cryogenics, and energy industries. The programmer independently develops and revises CNC programs and fixtures from models and drawings, supporting work from development through production. The role improves machining processes, mentors programmers and machinists, and coordinates with engineering, quality, and production teams to deliver accurate, repeatable manufacturing processes.

What you'll do

• Develop CNC programs for lathe, mill, and mill-turn operations using Siemens NX CAM
• create setup and run instructions
• verify programs through process checks and machine simulation
• maintain post processors, tooling libraries, templates, setup documentation, and programming data
• standardize cutting methods, tool paths, speeds, and feeds
• analyze drawings and specifications
• support production-readiness reviews and new equipment or process implementation
• mentor machinists and programmers
• lead advanced troubleshooting
• collaborate on design changes and nonconforming products
• support safe machining practices and QMS compliance.

Why this role

Requires at least 10 years of CNC programming experience across lathes, mills, and mill-turn operations, including complex parts, and advanced experience with tight tolerances and difficult materials.
